James B. Longacre created the Indian Cent, which was minted between 1859 and 1909. The Philadelphia Mint produced this particular Indian Cent in 1861, and it is rated Mint State 66 Star. Only 4 of the 1861 Indian Cents that were produced have been rated in Mint State 66 Star condition, and only 29 have been graded higher. This 1861 Indian Cent is not only a Condition Rare but also one of the finest known examples of the issue because to the tiny population of MS66 Stars and the small number of coins graded higher.
