The original John Flanagan-designed Washington Quarter was minted from 1932 to 1998 before being modified. This particular example was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1948 and is in Mint State 66+ condition. Washington Quarters minted prior to 1965, such as this example, were made of 90% silver. Only 60 1948-P Washington Quarters have been graded in Mint State 66+ condition, with only 519 examples graded higher. This coin is a tremendous Condition Rarity, with such a low MS66+ population and so few graded higher.
